Mapquest have released [deleted: appear to be about to release] some kind of general API for mashups for maps...the Mapquest OpenAPI. I have my fingers crossed it will be cool...although there does not appear to be much expressed anticipation in the web/blogosphere so far (with the exception of High Earth Orbit)... UPDATE: The link is here: Mapquest OpenAPI Google search as of today - 44 results But we will see if this changes after the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference this week. Why do I care? Compare Google Maps with Mapquest for Romania: Level of detail for Romania from Google Maps Mapquest detail for Rm Valcea Unfortunately Mapquest does not have satellite coverage (does it?) - but some of us may not be able to wait for Google to improve the Romanian maps and satellite imagery coverage... In the meantime, compare satellite detail on Google for Bucharest with Timisoara. Tags: romania mapquest mashups openapi
